Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has seized 22 vehicles and 5 persons in Ganderbal after finding them involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar here Police said that under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Special Police teams led by SHOs and IC PPs were constituted to check the menace of illegal mining in the district and during the course of action, five drivers were arrested and 22 vehicles loaded with Bajri/Sand & Boulders illegally extracted from Nallah Sindh Ganderbal were also seized, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Kheerbawani, PS Ganderbal and PS Lar and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
