Jammu: In the backdrop of JMC’s action against the encroachers at Canal Road-Jewel-Ghummat stretch aimed at making the city more accessible and encroachment free, ADC Jammu, Harvinder Singh, Saturday convened a consultative meeting with Chamber of Commerce and Market Associations.
During the meeting, it was stressed that encroachments such as illegal constructions, erecting of signboards, hoardings, illegal constructions on public premises, public roads and public lanes, which caused hindrance and interruption in free flow and movement of traffic needed to be removed in the best interest of Public at large and to comply with High Court’s order.
President Jammu Chamber of Commerce, Arun Gupta apprised the Chair regarding various issues of market associations and stressed that such initiatives be taken in a consultative manner and sought time to make the shopkeepers aware about the HC’s ruling and motivate them to remove their encroachments from roads, lanes and pathways on their own in the best interest of all.
The chamber also assured its full support and cooperation to the Administration in making the city more accessible for all under Smart City Mission.
It is pertinent to mention that JMC removed encroachments from the roadsides and footpaths which included illegal projections and pedestals in order to make way for construction of wider, continuous and uniform footpaths that would help in safe movement of Divyangjans and general public.
