Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and also recovered Contraband substances from his possession in Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Mirgund led by In-charge PP Mirgund SI Ather Parvaiz intercepted a suspicious person coming from Narbal towards Mirgund, who while seeing the police team tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party, Stating therein further that the said accused He has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Mir S/o Mohd Amin Mir R/o Panzinara Srinagar.
Stating that during searches 130 grams of charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said detained drug peddler who has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement furthermore said that a case has been regisetered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also reassured the people that it has been making efforts to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
