4 Gamblers held in B’pora, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested 4 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession in Bandipora district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here, police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in Nowgam area of Sumbal a police party led by In-charge PP Nowgam under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Rameez Rashid Bhat raided a gambling site at village Tulrazoo Sumbal and arrested 4 gamblers on the spot, stating therein further that the said gamblers have been identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Afzal, Afaq Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Mustafa, Ashiq Hussain Ahanger S/o Gh Rustum, Mushtaq Ahmad Zadoo S/o Ali Mohd Zadoo, all residents of Nowgam Sumbal and all of them have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the officers have also seized stake money of 3,700/- and playing cards from the gamblers, police in it’s above referred statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and subsequently appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
