Shopian: The District Panchayat Election Office (DPEO) Shopianon Tuesday conducted a SVEEP awareness programme for PRI members including sarpanchs and panchs of different blocks of the district at Mini Secretariat, here.
The PRI members were acquainted with knowledge on various parameters of Panchayat Roll Revision including addition, deletion and shifting of entries and were urged to spread awareness among the masses for enrollment on the Panchayat Electoral Rolls with the qualifying date.
Dy. District Election Officer, Jahanger Ahmad on the occasion, spoke in detail on the importance of electoral participation and process of electoral registration in Panchayat Electoral Roll.
He said that the revision is important for participation of new voters in the democratic processes and stressed upon participants to get all people enrolled before the cut-off date.
Other officials also shared their experiences among the participants to register themselves through their concerned PEBOs.
Numbers of queries raised by the participants were addressed on spot by officials. Later, the detailed schedule of the revision was shared with the participants
