DDC G’bal discusses roadmap for establishment of Hi-Tech Nursery in the Distt

Ganderbal6: A meeting under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir was convened on Tuesday to discuss the roadmap for establishment of Hi-Tech Nursery in District Ganderbal.
During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on various aspects for the establishment of hi-tech nursery in the district which include identification of a suitable and feasible patch of land, hub/centralized concept of hi-tech nursery in the district, integrated farming approach, soil less culture, precision farming, creating it as a tourist attraction spot, integrating local culture with hi-tech and zero energy approach.
During the meeting, line departments also briefed the DDC about the requirements to achieve the objective of “hi-tech” nursery viz semi hi-tech and hi-tech poly houses, nursery and shade net areas, modern machinery, tools, implements and high value crops (exotic).
Junior Agriculture Extension Officer (Apiculture) in her presentation put forth the requirement of Flora park, Flora cafeteria, Bee cafeteria, Bee museum (involving model room for bee specimen, types of bees in J&K, types of honey bees across country, life sized models of ancient hives, traditional hives and modern hives), Flow Hives, Langstroth Bee Hives along with colonies, bee venom collector, Queen rearing kits, royal jelly collecting equipment, bee keeping gear, Micro Processing Unit and Training room.
After threadbare deliberations and discussions, the DDC directed Assistant Commissioner Revenue to identify a patch of land considering the feasibility criteria of all the departments involved in District Ganderbalpreferably near District Headquarter for establishment of District Level Hi- Tech Nursery.
All the Officers were further directed to submit a concrete plan of their respective departments for establishment of hi-tech nursery.
The member secretary was asked to invite members from the Sericulture, Forestry and Horticulture wing of SKUAST-K/KVK.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries, District Floriculture/Chinar Development Officer, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Kangan, Horticulture Development Officer and other concerned.
