DC Kupwara chairs Conference on BBBP campaign, Says “Women empowerment top priority”

DC also Flags-off ASHA workers rally; felicitates newborn girl children at SDH Kupwara

Kupwara: The District Administration Kupwara and Health Department on Tuesday organized various events in connection with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign.
The main function was held at Government Degree College Kupwara where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, DoifodeSagarDattatray addressed a daylong conference on Beti Bachao BetiPadhao.
Addressing the conference, the DC highlighted the role of women in the society and the importance of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. He said women plays a greater role in the different for He urged upon the women folk to be stronger as the present government puts concerted efforts to empower the women folk at every stage.
Doifode Sagar said a woman can never be inferior to the man, adding that the highest seat of power i.e. The President of India is also occupied by a lady, Droupadi Murmu.
The DC urged upon all the participants to take special focus for healthcare and education of girls. He said because of the efforts of concerned stakeholders, the women sex ratio has increased from 950 to 970 of the district.
Referring to the good work culture of ICDS, DC said that the Integrated Child Development Scheme is a bridge between health and education.
He urged upon the ICDS workers and other stakeholders to work with added dedication and honesty for the betterment of the girl child.
Various other speakers also spoke at the occasion and threw light on the subject. A short film was also screened on the occasion.
The DC distributed baby kits and other awards among the beneficiaries.
Earlier, in the morning, the DC flagged-off a rally of ASHA Workers from DC Office Kupwara. The rally went through the Bye -pass and culminated at SDH Kupwara.
The DC in a separate function felicitated two newborn female children at sub district hospital Kupwara.
