Rajouri: Tragedy struck the Dangri village of Rajouri district yet again on Monday after two kids were killed and four others including two women were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that exploded at the same spot of the district where unidentified gunmen shot dead four civilians last Sunday.
Officials said that an IED blast took place in the house of one of the slain civilians of a firing incident in Rajouri last Sunday in the evening when people had gathered for condolences.
“During the explosion, a kid died on the spot while six others have been injured in the incident,” officials said. They identified the slain child as four-year-old Vihan Kumar son of Sushil Kumar. The official said that among the injured a minor girl also succumbed at GMC Rajouri. They identified the girl as five-year-old Sanvi Sharma.
The other four injured are being treated at the GMC Rajouri. Medical superintendent GMC Rajouri Dr Mehmood said that the minor girl who was injured in the blast Monday morning succumbed to her injuries during treatment. With the death of the minor girl, the toll in the blast has reached to 2. A pall of gloom descended on entire Rajouri district especially the Dangri village when the bodies of the two children reached the place where locals were already kept the bodies of four civilians.
The locals refused to perform the last rites of the slain and instead sat on a protest. They demanded a thorough probe into the incident and a stern punishment to perpetrators of the crime. Apart from senior officials of the police and the administration, DGP Dilbagh Singh reached the spot to meet the family members of the slain. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha also visited Dangri village to express solidarity with the families of the slain. He assured a thorough investigation into the incident
