Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested 6 drug peddlers in Pulwama and Baramulla& recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here police said that a police Party from Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Peaks Auto Gangoo Pulwama intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that during checking, 1.5kg of bang patri was recovered from the possession of the said suspect identified as Inayat Javid S/o Javaid Ah Ganie R/o Chatapora and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in the above referred statement also said that meanwhile in another action, a Police Party from PS Pulwama while acting swiftly on receiving inputs about hoarding large quantity of contraband substances by one person namely Shakeel Ahmad WaniS/o Gulam Ahmad WaniR/o Gosoo Pulwama in his residential house raided the specific location at village Gusoo Pulwama in presence of Magistrate and during searches recovered 800gms of Charas Powder from the said house and also arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime who stands shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in Baramulla aldso a police party under the supervision of I/C PP Mirgund SI Ather Parvaiz during routine naka checking at Sumbal-Singhpora road near Odina signalled a vehicle (i-10) bearing registration number UP65BE-9224 with 4 persons onboard to stop, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches of the vehicle, 3kgs of Poppy Straw, 700grams of Charas powder & 12grams of Herion like substance was recovered from the said vehicle and four drug peddlers identified as Mohammad MaqboolBhat @Raja S/o Gh Mustafa, Zulfikar Ali ParrayS/o Mohd Akbar and Sher Ali ParrayS/o Gh Mohammad all residents of Gund Hassi Bhat, Srinagar and Parvaiz Ahmad Najar S/o Gh Hassan Najar R/o Trihgam Sumbal were arrested, Stating therein further that the said drug peddlers have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody and vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and reiterated that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
