Udhampur: To develop the literary interest among the students, the Literary Club, Department of Music and Heritage Club, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture & Languages (JKAACL) Jammu oragnised a multilingual Mushaira here on Saturday under the aegis of AzadikaAmritMahaotsav.
Secretary J&K Academy of Art Culture & Languages Jammu, Bharat Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Renowned writer, poet, critic, scholar and Sahitiya Academy Awardee, ParkashPremi presided over the multilingual Mushaira event.
While speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Bharat Singh appreciated the efforts of College administration for organizing such an interesting, informative and stimulating literary event. He congratulated the poets for being a part of this mega event and also for delivering meaningful and entertaining poetic verses. Bharat Singh said that the Academy has decided to organize literary and cultural activities in the interiors of the entire Districts of Jammu region. He also urged such types of literary and cultural events in the near future.
Renowned and prominent poets of the Udhampur district mainly include BalrajBakshi, AnandSaroopAnjum, Tara Nath, S.D. Kotwal, KusumAntra, JagdeepDubey, Bachiter Singh Veragi, Rekha Thakur, Ram KrishanDhar, Mohinder Kumar Pancharvi, AnuAtriYaad, AnjanaKumari, Varun Veer, Ritu Singh, NitikaNitu and Dr. Jyoti Sharma presented their poetic verses touching all the aspects of society. Besides budding poets including students of the college namely NaseemAkhter, Rimpy Sharma, ShilpaSharama and SadhanaSargam also expressed their poetic talent.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Principal of the college, Dr. Monika Sharma lauded the efforts of organisers for organising such a wonderful multilingual Mushaira that will provide a platform to share and exchange diverse literary knowledge. Dr. Monika expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the JKAACL for providing the opportunity for students to develop their overall personalities and should organize more such activities in this college.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Convener Literary Club, Dr. Mool Raj besides formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. SushmaKumari. As many as 255 students witnessed the occasion.
