Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has booked 4 drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here, Police said that four drug peddlers identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Magloo @Jai Khandeel S/o Abdul Rasheed Magloo and Mohmmad Arif Magloo S/o Ghulam Mohammad Magloo both residents of Putlibagh Budgam, Mehraj Ahmed Wani @Mehra S/o Mohammad Amin Wani R/o Awanpora Chadoora and Miasar Ahmed Mir S/o Late Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Dalwan Charar-e-Sharief have been arrested.
Stating that the above named drug peddlers were involved in six NDPS cases registered in various Police stations of the district and were promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of District Budgam, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that despite their involvement in many FIRs, these drug peddlers did not mend their activities.
“The police subsequently, processed the cases and sanctions were obtained from the competent authority against the arrested drug peddlers for detention under Public Safety Act and have been lodged in District Jail Rajouri”, reads the police statement.
In a concluding para of the above quoted statement Police reassured the people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
