Srinagar : As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative by Government of J&K, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday organized a ‘Thana Diwas’ in Budgam and Pulwama districts.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here police said that in Budgam, Thana Diwas programmes were organized at Police Station Beerwah, Police Station Khag, Police Station Khansahib, Police Post Humhama and Police Post Soibugh. These meetings were chaired by concerned supervisory officers and were attended by respectable citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas. Besides, officials from civil departments like PDD, PHE & revenue also participated.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that in Pulwama also, Thana Diwas events were organised at Police Station Pulwama, Police Station Kakapora, Police Station Rajpora& Police Station Litter of the district. The events were chaired by concerned supervisory officers. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas.
The statement also adds that during these meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and the chairing officers assured them that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasions, it was reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to make Police Public relations better and to hear & redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement furthermore said that on this occasion, the participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. The participants appreciated the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost community policing and public confidence.
