DLSA G’bal conducts Legal Awareness/ Training Prog on ‘Juvenile Justice’

Ganderbal: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal in collaboration with Police Training School, Manigam on Wednesday held Legal Awareness cum Training programme on Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children), at conference hall, Police Training School Manigam, here.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of DLSA Chairman Ritesh Kumar Dubey, who is also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Ganderbal and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.
Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal was Chief Guest on the occasion and was presented a Guard of Honour by ceremonial guard of PTS Manigam on his arrival.
Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal in his presidential address said that the Legal Awareness programme on Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) is mainly aimed at reviewing the distance travelled and covered in the direction of strengthening the juvenile justice regime in the District, and to renew our pledge to work with utmost devotion and vigour for the best interest of the children.
He said, every child has its human rights and these rights should not be denied to them by anybody. Hence, it was felt that there should be laws to protect the rights of the children, he added.
While addressing the participants, he added that, addressing the issues of Juvenile delinquency and ensuring the welfare of children in need of care and protection through Juvenile Justice Legislations is only a part of the process of ensuring the best interest of children in line with the mandate of the Constitution of India and the international conventions.
Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi, Pr. Magistrate JJB/CJM Ganderbal, while speaking on the occasion highlighted the overview of Juvenile Justice Care and protection Act, 2015 and Role of Police. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA in her welcome address said that Children are the greatest gift on earth to humanity and are the most valuable asset of any nation. They are innocent and vulnerable, and need special care and protection adding that the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 has been enacted which is an effective and responsive legislation of the parliament.
To achieve the purpose of the Act it is our duty to strengthen its implementation at all levels. The primary purpose of the Act was to provide care and protection, treatment, development and rehabilitation of the neglected juvenile delinquent.
Shokat Hussain Shah (SSP), Principal Police Training School Manigam, while speaking on the occasion highlighted that the juvenile is a child and should be treated as such.
Adv. GhulamRasool Rather, Panel Lawyer DLSA Ganderbal, gave an overview on Child rights and How to deal with child abuse and vulnerability.
Hilal Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Central University of Kashmir, gave an overview on Role of Legal Services Authorities and understanding children in conflict in Law.
The programme was also attended by Faculty members of Police Training School Manigam, Members of Child Welfare Committee, Members of Juvenile Justice Board and Police Trainees.
