Block Diwas held at Verinag, Larnoo & Aishmuqam of Ang, Massive public participation witnessed

Anantnag : Block Diwas was on Wednesday held at three locations of Verinag, Aishmuqam and Larnoo in District Anantnag.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom presided over the event at NowgamVerinag. He interacted with several delegations on the occasion who put forth their issues regarding installation of transformer at Dudhwan, minimizing curtailment of electricity, fire station at Nowgam, ATM facility, ambulance for NTPHC Qammar and Kapran and construction of link road at Khushipora.
Directions were issued to concerned departments on spot for resolving the grievances in a time bound manner. The DC also took stock of the grievances received in the previous Block Diwas and inspected the action taken report.
Dr Basharat discussed the various good governance measures in place for the convenience of the people. He said that during the Good Governance week, several doorstep service delivery camps were organized by different departments.
He also highlighted the encouraging role played by PRIs in plan formulation and implementation, and emphasized on the importance of gram sabhas and appealed to the people to identify gap areas in development so that they can be addressed through various development plans.
The DC directed various sectoral heads to maintain inter-departmental coordination to address public demands in an efficient manner. He appealed to the public to judiciously use electricity.
Dr Basharat distributed sports kits among youth during the block diwas. He said that facilities for engaging youth in productive activities are being developed and stressed on the importance of youth clubs in creating awareness among the people regarding various government initiatives.
He said several self-employment programs are available and young minds can leverage these for sustainable livelihood opportunities. He also interacted with PMAY beneficiaries.
The Block Diwas was attended by DDC Shahabad, JD Planning, SDM Dooru, CAHO, ACD, Ex En KPDCL, BMO, AD Food, Tehsildar among others.
Block Diwas was also held at Town Hall, Aishmuqam and Dandipora Park, Larnoo where ADDC Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani and Addl. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat presided over the functions respectively and listened to people to address their issues/ grievances.
