Illicit timber seizes in Sopore, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has seized illicit timber and also arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, police said that PS Panzala on receiving inputs about some smugglers having laden timber upon horses and smuggled it to another location for illegal sale etc. organised a special naka at Takiya Panzla and arrested one smuggler identified as Abdul Majeed Chopan S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Sain Satrena Rafiabad, Stating therein further that horses carrying illicit timber in shape of logs have also been seized and accused smuggler has also been shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Stating that Police has registered a case vide FIR No. 70/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Panzala and investigation has been initiated to find facts on ground, Police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement reiterated that it’sconsistent actions against anti-social elements shall remain continue and assured that efforts are on to keep society free of crime. The Police on this occasion also resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
