In a statement issued on Friday ,Hakeem said that both AWWs and AWHs are working on a meager honorarium and ending their services on attaining the age of 60 years was a cruel action for them as compared to the selfless services bieng rendered by them . He said another decision to disengage the AWWs and AWHs ,if she , permanently shifts or changes her place of residence outside the ward on the basis of residence of which was also an injustice with them .
PDF Chairman has urged the government to recognise and respect unflinching services being rendered by AWWs and Helpers and immediately revoke the new HR policy for them . He said ,instead of meeting genuine demands of AWWs and Helpers , they have been have been exploited by the previous governments and some trade union bodies . He said these female social workers and their families were spending a miserable life . “ On one hand ,government was making tall claims about women empowerment and Beti Padhaw and Beti Bachaw while on the other hand no concrete measures are taken to ameliorate the lot of AWWs and Helpers. He said AWWs play a pivotal role in awakening the society about various social and health related issues especially among children of the under previlleged sections . Hakeem also impressed upon the government to fulfill it’s commitment about zero tolerance against any kind of human rights violation.
