Distt Disability Rehab Centre inaugurated at B’pora

DDRC will act as milestone in providing quality rehabilitation services to Specially-abled: DC Owais

B’pora: In a first to provide comprehensive services to specially-abled persons in the district, the District Administration Bandipora has established District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) at old Hospital Building Bandipora.
The Centre was Thursday inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad and shall jointly be run by District Administration and Hope NGO.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the centre is aimed to empower specially-abled persons and is an initiative to provide comprehensive services to them.
On the occasion, the concerned officers apprised the DC that in the DDRC, services like hearing aids test lab, speech therapy room, visual therapy room, psychologist room, and physiotherapist room like facilities shall be available.
Besides, DDRC will also assist specially-abled persons in registration of Unique Disability ID portal.
Dr. Owais said that DDRC will act as a milestone in providing quality rehabilitation services. He urged the concerned to take extra efforts for providing services like awareness generation, early detection and intervention etc.
He also appealed to the concerned to avail benefit from the rehabilitation centre.
The DC appreciated the efforts of DPO Bandipora, DSWO and other people associated with DDRC who worked tirelessly to provide better services to them.
He also took inspection of various units including Speech therapy unit, Prosthetic and orthotic section, Exercise section, Electrotherapy room and other sections.
While interacting with the officers of the concerned departments the DC asked them to make suitable and attractive environment so that concerned will voluntarily choose to avail the services at DDRC.
The inaugural function was also attended by ADDC Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan, DPO Mohd Ashraf Hakak, ADC Waseem Raja, DSWO Ubaid Ul Khazir, President Specially Abled Association, Senior citizens, civil society members and other concerned officers.
