Waliv Gindav- sports event proves highly encouraging for migrant children

Jammu: On day-3 of sports Carnival “Waliv Gindav” Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, K. K. Sidha on Wednesday visited the Sports stadium Jagti Camp Nagrota Jammu and participated in various games along with the students which acted as morale boosters for all the participants.
The event is providing an excellent opportunity to budding sports talent to showcase their talent.
More than four hundred students both male and female participated in various tournaments of indoor and outdoor games with full enthusiasm. The huge gathering of spectators boosted the players by applauding them with enthused energy.
During the day, five games both indoor & outdoor were played and the main highlight was women oriented tournaments.
Anirudh Dhar, Abhi Sharma, Komal Shah and Mehak clinched gold medals in various categories of 100 meters sprint in athletics. Among the junior boys, Anirudh Dhar clinched gold, Saroj Singh and Rafan claimed silver and bronze medals respectively, while among senior boys, Abhi Sharma bagged gold and Divan claimed bronze.
In athletics Junior Girls, Mehak claimed gold, Mansi won silver and Vaishali clinched bronze, while in Athletics Senior girls, Komal Shah, Khushi Pandita and Shivani Pandita claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In women’s Cricket, three matches were played today. Rising Women defeated Jagti Titans by 10 wickets and sealed berth in the finals.
In Kho-Kho, Team Arushi trounced Team Vardhan by one innings and 7 points.
In Kabaddi, Warriors beat seven Star by a big margin of 30 points(36-06), Legends prevailed over Panthers by 5 points (24-19) and Titans defeated by 10 points (35-25).
The matches were supervised by the Incharge Nodal Officers of the Relief Department and Officials of the Youth Services and Sports Department. Refreshments were distributed to all the participants and the winners will be facilitated at the closing ceremony of the sports Carnival.
