Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) today organised a 7-Day Poetry Festival at JKAACL premises in Jammu. The Poetry Festival intends to accommodate poets of seven different languages: Urdu, Hindi, Kashmiri, Dogri, Punjabi, Gojri, and Pahari — with a day dedicated to every single language.
Dr DarakshanAndrabi, Chairman of J&K WAQF Board, was the Chief Guest on the auspicious occasion. The distinguished assemblage included the likes of Padamshree Dr JitenderUdhampuri, Former Director of Radio Kashmir/Jammu; Pritpal Singh Betaab (Rt. IAS), a celebrated poet and former administrator; Ahmad Shahnas, an eminent poet cum former administrator; SatishVimal, an acclaimed literary personality of the region.
While presenting the keynote address, Dr ShaliniRana, an academician, extended a cordial welcome to the guests and highlighted the creative contribution of poets to society since time immemorial. Then onwards, renowned poets Vakeel Hayat, SwaranKotwal, Mohan Singh Ulfat, Sham Talib, Ashok Kumar Paras, Tariq Raza, Bashir –Ul-Haq, IrfanArif, Fouzia Mughal, Er. AslamShahzad, Ghani Ghayoor, Parvaiz Malik, TaslimMuntazar, Umar Farahat, Naseem Akhtar, Khursheed Kazami, Varun Veer, Amin Banhali, Raj Kumar Chandan, Dr Darakshna Andrabi, Dr Liaqat Jafri, Ahmed Shanas, and Pritpal Singh Betab graced the event with their poetical renditions. Bindiya Tickoo conducted the proceedings of the Poetry Festival.
The audience, in multitude, relished the grandeur of the literary expression. The Cultural Academy’s effort in promoting cultural sensitivities is receiving praise from the art and culture connoisseurs of the region.
Neha Thapa, another alumnus deliberated upon getting admission in higher Education through exams like CAT, MAT, GREF etc.
Mohammad Arshad Nomani, Resource Person of the day highlighted the roadmap for the preparation of Civil Services Examinations and motivated the students to aid their studies with time management to achieve the goal.
CA, Anuj Mahajan , the other Resource Person explained the stepping stones to become a Chartered Accountant and Entrepreneur . On behalf of the Principal of the College, Dr.Irvinder Kour appreciated the efforts of the organizing Committee comprising Prof. Rajni Kumari, Convenor Career Counselling and Placement Cell ; Prof. Anupama Sharma, Convenor Institution Innovation Club and other members Prof. Malti, Prof. Neelam, Prof. Rajinder Kumar. She also stressed on the need of conducting awareness programs on Career opportunities on regular intervals. The Programme concluded with the formal Vote of thanks by Prof. Suman Bala, member Institutional innovation Club.
