DC Shopian holds meeting with AEROs, PEBOs

DC Stresses on universal coverage of electorates in the upcoming Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision

Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar vaishya who is also District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), on Tuesday held meeting with AEROs and Panchayat Election Booth Officers (PEBOs) of Shopian at Mini Secretariat, here.
The DPEO urged the participants to expedite the process of registrations and ensure 100% accuracy and coverage to the electorates during the Panchayat Electoral revision period commencing from 21 December, 2022 to 18 January, 2023.
He stressed upon PEBOs to undertake the task of spreading awareness among the people regarding the exercise. He also asked them to work with dedication and enthusiasm towards the effective registration of new eligible voters.
DPEO called for greater and more inclusive participation of people in the electoral process.
Dy.DEO, Jahanger Ahmad, on the occasion explained about the process of prescribed forms for upcoming Panchayat Electoral Revision and methodologies to be adopted for 100% coverage by door to door visit of the households.
Earlier in the day, DPEO issued a public notice informing all the stakeholders about the schedule for the revision and requested for greater participation.
The revision for Panchayat Electoral Rolls shall start from 21 December, 2022 to 18 January, 2023 during which the eligible voters can apply for enrolment and other delegations.
The disposal of claims and objections shall be carried out by the ERO on 30 January, 2023 and the final publication shall take place on 10 February, 2023.
During the period of revision, special camps shall be held on every Saturday and Sunday at the Polling stations where the PEBOs shall be available for facilitating the electorates.
An interactive session was later held with PEBOs to clear their doubts regarding enrolment process and other relevant queries.
