I am Yasir Fayaz hailing from district Pulwama of this “Paradise on Earth” Kashmir and here I am sharing story of my journey in photography with you. A few years ago when I was in standard 9th at School I had an inclination towards photography and wanted to try my hands on it. At that time I was influenced by Basit Zargar, A famous Photographer from Srinagar, a correspondent of Citizen . I knew it is doable and with this vision I stepped into the field of Photography. Days turned into Months and months turned into a Year and I was still hopeless because I was oblivious of the skills required for the photography. In desperation and high sense of despondency I decided to leave this venture. And it was in 2018 when I finally stepped down from the genre of photography. But in 2019 something happened that changed my thoughts on my decision of divorcing from my passion. It was the time of the sunset when I was taken aback by the breathtaking view of the descending sun and I couldn’t stop myself from capturing those moments. I took a phone and ascended to the top story of a local mosque to capture the glimpse of the sky turning red and beams of a setting sun. The pleasure that I sensed kindled in me the passion for photography once again. And there I decided to step into this field once again, this time with a rejuvenated hope and a never dying courage.
By now, I was inspired by a dozen more photographers who were doing a commendable work in this field. And by the midst of 2019 I started taking it as my future profession more than just a hobby. To tell you something about photography, in my opinion photography is all about what you envision through your eyes and capture it with the lenses of a camera. It is a reflection of creativity of your mind that you bring on a paper. I realized that the key equipment that is needed in photography other than the gadgets is- “An eye of creativity and Patience”. This passion of mine also revealed it to me the secrets of life that everything can be achieved; every dream can be accomplished with consistency an unwavering patience. So today I won’t claim to be a professional photographer but yes I can say with my own experience that with consistency and patience you can master any skill. Gradually with time, photography not only took over me but my home as well. And I was considered the one who could click good pictures and was called upon by everyone in every event. One such example is when one night my mother was earnestly looking for me and calling my name while I was in my room. I responded with a sense of astonishment only to realize that she wanted me to take the clicks of an eclipsed moon and preserve this beautiful image into our memories forever. I laughed out loud and said to myself, “Yasir, there you are. You wanted to become a photographer and finally became one”.
