Mining Deptt seizes 16 vehicles involved in illegal mining Kathua

Kathua : A team of Geology and Mining department led by District Mineral Officer KathuaRajinder Singh on Thursday seized 16 vehicles involved in illegal mining during a wee hour raid in SaharKhad, Logate and other areas of the district.
The 11 vehicles involved in illegal transportation were seized at SaharKhad, Logate, Kathera and 5 at ShallanRamkote.
As informed by the DMO, 90 MT of raw mineral loaded on the vehicles has been recovered so far. Meanwhile, one dumper carrying minerals without e-challan fled from the Khad .
The District Mineral Officer further informed that the action has been initiated as per the MMDR Act of 1957 and SRO-105 of 2016.
The DMO said 10 carriage vehicles and 04 heavy excavators 1600 MT minor minerals have already been seized by the department in SaharKhad. All the vehicles after seizure were handed over to Police till the realization of penalty by the geology and mining department.
