DDC asks youth to take keen interest in establishing their self-income generating units

Kupwara : District Administration Kupwara Wednesday organized weekly block diwas events in various block headquarters of the district to hear the developmental issues of the people at their doorsteps.

The main function was held at Zachaldara in block Rajwar which was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray here on Wednesday.

DDC Member Rajwar, Mir Suliman; ACD, CEO, CMO, CAO, AD Food, AD Fisheries, DMO, DSWO, AD Planning,  Tehsildar,  BDO, Representatives from line departments, besides, BDC Chairperson, PRIs and people in large number attended the block diwas function.

Addressing the function, the DDC said that the aim of holding weekly block diwas is to reach the people living in different areas of the district at their doorsteps to get feedback of their developmental and other day to day issues for timely redressal.

He said that the Panchayati Raj System is an important part of the development and urged upon the PRIs to supervise the developmental activities going on in their respective jurisdictions.

The DDC said that Block Development Officers have been given magisterial powers by the government to resolve ROW issues so as to make smooth way for the developmental process.

Referring to PMEGP, the DDC appealed to the unemployed educated youth to take keen interest in establishing their self income generating units to earn their livelihood adding that 2500 beneficiaries have already been given loan for establishing their units under the scheme.

He asked the PRIs to submit 20 to 25 proposals from each panchayat so that maximum youth are covered under the employment generation programme.

On the occasion, the DDC distributed sanction cum disbursement letters among 7 PMEGP beneficiaries for establishing their units under manufacturing and service sectors.

Regarding tourism, the DDC said that a District Level Committee have already been framed for giving valuable feedback on tourism development of different areas of the district, especially Bangus.

Regarding water supply, the DDC directed the concerned officer to issue a schedule for providing tanker water supply in the areas wherever required.

The DDC sought detailed feedback from the officers regarding the progress of their developmental activities in the area.

Earlier, DDC Member and PRIs spoke and raised the developmental issues of the area.

The DDC heard their issues patiently and directed the concerned officers to ensure that all genuine issues are timely resolved.

Later, the DDC distributed sports kits among 15 panchayats of block Rajwar.

Block diwas was also held at PanjtaranTeetwal in Karnah sub division which was chaired by SDM Karnah, Dr.Gulzar Ahmad Rather.

SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat chaired a block diwas event at block headquarter Sogam in Lolab Sub Division.

Officers & representatives from line departments, besides, PRIs and people attended the block diwas events.
