Anantnag :Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) Anantnaghere on Tuesdayorganised a workshop on ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ in collaboration with DLSA, National Commission for Women (NCW) and Women’s Police Station Anantnag at Block Training Centre Seer Hamdan, Anantnag.
Razia Malik spoke at length on free legal Aid, Domestic Violence and Gender Inequality,
Resource persons from NCW also spoke on various aspects of elimination of violence against women. Sheikh Kifayatullah, DPM JKRLM Anantnag spoke at length on the role of JKRLM (UMEED) in women empowerment particularly with economic/financial aspects. BPMs and Officials from line departments/organizations also spoke during the workshop .
The speakers said that concepts like gender inequality have become archaic concepts and females have the same right to aspire. They said that given the right opportunities, females have proven to be active collaborators in Nation building and have been valuable contributors in development.
The participants also pledged to work towards eliminating violence against women from the society and seek help if they encounter such cases.
