Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday in Budgam organized a day-long workshop on “Road Safety and Traffic Awareness” at Govt Degree College Beerwah.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here, the SSP Budgam TahirSaleem was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme was also attended by Samina Yesvi, Principal Govt. Degree College Beerwah, SDPO Magam and other Police officers of district Budgam. The students and staff members also attended the programme. The main objective of the workshop was to increase awareness about road safety and traffic among students and teachers to minimize the graph of road mishaps.
SSP Budgam delivered a detailed lecture on road safety & traffic awareness. Besides, requested the participants to follow the traffic rules in order to reduce casualties caused by road accidents. He added that thousands lost their lives and tens of thousands got injured in road accidents on a yearly basis mostly due to lack of awareness or ignoring traffic rules. He urged the participants that it is our obligation to make our youth aware of the traffic rules and to persuade them to follow these rules while on road. Moreover, a detailed PowerPoint presentation on road safety was presented by the Chief Guest.
The SSP Budgam also administered an oath/pledge to all participants that they will obey traffic rules and will persuade others also to do the same.
In a concluding para of the statement, police said later, Principal Govt. Degree College Beerwah, Samina Yesvi paid thanks to the Police for conducting such an awareness program in the college.
