Distt Level Committee meeting for implementation of PMMSY held at Pulwama

Pulwama:  A District Level Committee (DLC) meeting for implementation of District Fisheries Plan under centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was Tuesday held under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr. Sheikh Abdul Aziz at Mini Secretariat, here on Tuesday.

The ADDC discussed the modalities for effective implementation of PMMSY in the district.

He informed the meeting that PMMSY is a flagship programme launched with the purpose to augment the fish production, create employment avenues and welfare of the fishermen community and fish farmers.

On the occasion, 10 and 02 beneficiaries were selected through a draw of lots for availing financial assistance to construct their Trout Rearing Units under centrally sponsored PMMSY and State Capex Budget respectively, whereas 01 beneficiary was selected for construction of Carp Pond under State Capex Budget.

PMMSY under AatmNirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan is covering all the aspects of fish production and productivity, Post-harvest infrastructure and strengthening of value chain, establishing a Robust Fisheries management framework and Fisher’s welfare.

The scheme envisages establishment of Fish Raceways and Ponds, Trout Hatcheries, Housing and Insurance for fishers and Trout Feed Mills.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC said that the District Administration is committed to increase the trout production in the district and achieve the set targets, besides providing every possible help to the farmers connected with the fish farming.

The department of Fisheries Pulwama is providing Rs 2.20 lac, 40 percent financial assistance for construction of Trout Unit and Rs 1.30 lac (100 percent) for construction of low cost house to registered and Fish farmers and are also provided premium less insurance cover of Rs 5 lac against accidental death.

Among others, the meeting was attended by SE Hydraulic Circle Pulwama, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Head KrishiVigyan Kendra MalangporaPulwama, District Lead Bank Manager, Pulwama, Assistant Director Fisheries Pulwama, Warden Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel Pulwama and AshiqHussain, a progressive Fish Farmer.
