Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that it has arrested 4 gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Shalboni Hanjiwera Pattan, a police party led by SI Athar Parvaz I/C P P Mirgund raided the specific site and arrested 4 gamblers on the spot who have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh S/o Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat S/o Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Hilal Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani all residents of Hanjiwera Pattan.
Stating that oficers incharge on this occasion have seized stake money of worth Rs. 1,500/- and playing cards from the gamblers , Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been taken up to nab more gamblers in the area.
In the concluding para of the statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
