Pulwama : The Department of Islamic Studies organized one day workshop titled “Optimising Mental Health-Knowing the Science of Meditation” on 6th December 2022 in both offline and online mode.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Centre of the College the proceedings of the workshop were carried out by Dr. Zaira Ashraf, Head Department of Islamic Studies. She also highlighted the importance of the workshop. Prof. Master Showkat Ali, Head, Department of English formally welcomed the delegates, speakers and other participants. Prof. Asma Nabi-Assistant Professor (Department of Psychology) University of Kashmir and Ms. Iram bint Safia- A certified Life Coach, USA were the Guest speakers. Dr. Asma delved deep into the psychological aspect defining the mental health and identifying the problem. She talked about the need for recognition and the importance of Self help in resolving the Mental Health issues. The solution to that she offered would be working on the cognitive restructuring. Iram is very well versed in identifying the human behaviors and regulating them and has influenced hundreds of people. She mentioned about the Islamic perspective of articulating patience and cited the examples from the Islamic Scriptures. The event was supported by the Staff of the College, Department of Computer Application, and all those who showed their participation. It was attended by Students, scholars and academicians from across J&K. It was also attended by the people of different faiths and strongly appreciated. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Firdous Ahmad Reshi, Guest Faculty of the Department.
