2-Day Training Prog on Foundational Literacy Survey & FLN Concludes at DIET Kishtwar

Kishtwar:  Two Day training programme on Foundational Literacy Survey and FLN under NEP-2020 concluded  on Saturday here at DIET Kishtwar.

The training session was attended by all  HOIs of UPS/MS of zone Kishtwar and Nagseni.

On the concluding day, Principal DIET, Ashok Kumar said that Kishtwar district along with other districts of J&K will achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy at the end of Grade-III by 2026-27 through a National Mission, i.e. the National Initiative for proficiency in reading with understanding and numeracy (NIPUN Bharat).

HOD DIET, Pramilla Devi Sharma, in her address, called upon the HOIs to take the learning of the FLN/FLS Study at the ground level and assured that DIET would wholeheartedly support all interventions and content development about foundational numeracy and literacy.

Sr. Lecturer DIET, Riaz Ahmed Butt sensitized the participants about FLN and FLS benchmarks set by authorities and informed that the DIET with the help of several RPs has developed several TLMs and contents, some of which are already in use in schools.

Meanwhile, a two minute video of the Prime Minister of India on FLN and its importance and seriousness was screened for HOIs in which the PM himself has declared FLN as national Mission.

DrShivaniKotwal, Resource Person for DIET Kishtwar, shared the detailed FLS report with all HOIs and other stakeholders and stresses them to focus on building a strong foundation for better growth in the early years of the child.

RashidaShaheen another DRP DIET, Shawana DRP/DIET, BeenaKumari DRP, DIET, AnayatMuzamil DRP DIET and ShaguftaShaheen DRP, DIET Kishtwar also delivered lectures during the two Day workshop cum training programme. and appealed all the stakeholders to implement the same in their schools so that children attain foundational literacy and numeracy, which has been accorded the highest preference in National Education Policy 2020.

During the two day training programme the guest lecturer TasleemJaviadWani-, Block Development Officer Inderwal delivered a detailed lecture on Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). He apprised them about the elimination of open defecation, conversion of unsanitary toilets to pour flush toilets, eradication of manual scavenging, municipal solid waste management and bringing about a behavioural change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices. He also explained ODF Plus activities under Phase II of SBM and  focused during the lecture on solid and liquid waste in villages.

He further explained the HOIs about their role in society especially in their school complexes where SBM-2.0 emphasizes the sustainability of achievements and to provide adequate facilities for Solid/Liquid & plastic Waste Management  in rural Kishtwar and further said that ODF Plus is being monitored and implemented on Plastic waste management, Biodegradable solid waste management (including Animal Waste Management), Greywater (Household Wastewater) Management etc.
