Ganderbal:: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah on Friday chaired a meeting of PDD to review the steps taken in advance for winter preparedness in the district.

At the outset, threadbare discussion was held on buffer stock of transformers, working of District Workshop in double shifts, and restoration teams for prompt clearance of faults.

On the occasion, the ADC directed concerned officers to strictly adhere to the curtailment schedule and avoid unscheduled power cuts so that general public do not face inconvenience during the winters.

He urged for wide publicity of curtailment schedule and ensuring minimum distribution curtailment during exigency.

He also directed concerned officers to communicate to public through media in advance about any maintenance work to be carried in any area to ensure no crisis.

Meanwhile, Executive Engineer KPDCL Ganderbal informed the meeting that separate workshop has been allotted/ sanctioned for Sub-division Kangan for which site has been identified and DPR has also been submitted for vetting purpose and the executing agency shall start the work on construction of repair workshop soon.

The ADC asked the Executive Engineer KPDCL that besides Power Development Department (PDD), J&K Police and Department of Revenue should be roped in to act tough against the power theft and improper billing.

The Executive Engineer KPDCL said that the PDD along with Police and officials from Department of Revenue will launch a massive and joint operation against power theft in coming days for which the joint inspection teams have already been constituted.

The ADC said that  the need of the hour is to give wide publicity to recently launched amnesty scheme involving, PRIs and officials of line departments highlighting all the benefits of the scheme.

He further directed officials of KPDCL that proper mechanism should be put in place for reviewing the cases individually regarding hike in power tariff as people are approaching to his office complaining about unjustified hike of power tariff by the concerned Department.

The meeting was attended by ASP, Feroz Yehya; Executive Engineer KPDCL, Tehsildars, AEEs and other concerned.
