Int’l anti-Corruption Day observed at Govt College for Women Parade

Jammu :  NSS units of Government College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu commemorated International Anti-Corruption Day.

The esteemed chief guest on the occasion was Rajinder Sharma,   Mayor, Jammu, who addressed the issue with utmost attention and wisdom. The event started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries and a formal welcome address by the Principal of the college, Dr S.P. Sarswat. He thanked the chief guest for sparing his precious time from his busy schedule to grace the occasion.

In his address, Rajinder Sharma shared his views regarding the topic and apprised the students about the demerits of corruption and how it could have a drastic influence on students and society at large. The Mayor gave a detailed account of the various initiatives taken by the Govt for eradication of corruption. He also informed the students that JMC has adopted a resolution to resolve that all the candidates for election of corporator should have graduation as basic eligible criteria. “JMC is the only Municipal Corporation in India who has taken up this initiative. Further, he also asked students to keep a vigil over any sort of corruption happening around them.

The Mayor further highlighted the problems faced by the public and the steps being taken by him as Mayor Jammu to combat the same. He emphasised the importance of ease of doing business by bringing in transparency in service delivery for common citizens. “This will go a long way in preventing corrupt practices in the service sector,” he added. He also impressed upon the students to play their role in making a corruption free Jammu in particular and a corruption free India in general.

The Mayor also appealed to the students to participate in large numbers in the march being organised on 9th of December, 2022 on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day.

The Principal of the College also appreciated the various initiatives of the Govt. including various e-services that have made the Govt. procedures are more simple and transparent.  The proceedings of the event were done by MsKaashvi and MsKangan, NSS volunteers of the College. The event ended with a formal vote of thanks presented by NSS Program officer, DrMohdMajeed.
