Srinagar : Following successful completion of phase 2, the phase 3rd of J&K Sports Council’s special sports initiative ‘My Youth My Pride’ commenced across J&K.

On the occasion, the Indoor Sports Complex Pologround in Srinagar remained busy with the Judo, Pencaksilat, Taekwondo, Kabaddi activities in which 300 athletes competed with their competitors.

Similar activities were also organized at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex in Srinagar.

In the meantime, cricket activities as part of the programme returned to Ghani Memorial Stadium RajouriKadal in Shehar-i-Khas where a couple of matches slated for the day were played with a lot of fanfare as the crowd remained filled to brim with spectators and cricket lovers from different walks of life.

Similarly, cricket matches were also organized in downtown Chinkral Mohall Stadium marking the beginning of phase 3 of My Youth My Pride special sports activities.

Basketball matches for girls were played in Gindun Sports Complex Rajbagh during the day and matches in the boys’ category were slated to be played under lights in the evening.

Cricket matches under lights both in Jammu and Kashmir divisions were scheduled to be played later in the evening. While iconic M. A Stadium will host the match between the employees of J&K Sports Council and the Finance Department, the TRC Cricket Academy shall host the match between the Sports Council Cricket Academy Team and the employee’s team drawn from Sports Council and other government departments.

This particular move is aimed at bringing activism and a break from the mundane for government employees. More such events at large scale are also in pipeline in the days to come, said Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull.

She emphasized the need for more sports activities for people involved in working for the welfare of people of J&K. They need a break to freshen up and return rejuvenated to their workplace, she added.

Meanwhile many activities under the program were still in progress when the report was being filed.
