Srinagar : Police on Tuesday claimed to have held 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters here Police said that in Baramulla, a police party led by SHO PS Pattan along with Incharge PP Palhallan during routine naka checking at Dargam crossing Pattan intercepted two suspicious persons and upon checking, 29Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance were recovered from their possession, Stating therein further that the said drug peddlers have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohd Dar and Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Razzaq Dar both residents of Sheer Colony Sopore. Police in it’s above referred statement also said that the above named drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that in Ganderbal a police party led by incharge PP Shadipora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal in a similar incident during patrolling at Zazuna arrested a suspicious person and during searches Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession, Police in it’s above quoted statement further said that the said accused has been identified as Shahijahan Parra son of Nazir Ahmad Parra R/O of Zazuna, Stating therein further that the said accused has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated it’s resolve to act tough against the culprits.
