‘My Town My Pride 2.0 ’: Pr. Secy I&C visits B’gam

  Pr Secy also Inspects DH, BHSS School, Community Hall, New Bus stand, Interacts with delegations, distributes tricycle, wheelchairs, hearing aids, financial assistance, Grah Pravesh keys

Budgam :  Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, PrashantGoyal, who is Visiting Officer for Budgam Municipal Committee, visited Budgam town as a part of “My Town My Pride (MTMP) 2.0” programme.

Principal Secretary said that the ambitious MTMP programme is aimed at reaching out to urban people at their doorsteps ensuring on spot redressal of their issues and grievances. He was speaking during an event held at sports stadium, Budgam, as part of MTMP 2.0 during his 2 day visit to Budgam Municipal Committee.

Principal Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, S F Hamid and President Municipal Council, Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad and other officers of district administration.

While addressing the function, Principal Secretary said that the government has launched ‘My Town My Pride’ programme for holistic development of urban areas in a missionary mode.

Goyal said the government is akin to the development issues of Budgam and is committed towards its welfare and development. He said Budgam has huge potential for tourism development and efforts are being made to promote the sector in the district. He said that welfare of people is their right and at the same time the citizens have a moral responsibility to fulfil certain duties to ensure smooth balance between development and social order.

Principal Secretary stressed on skill development among youth to eradicate unemployment. He said the new education policy focuses on skill development as it will help in making the new generation self reliant adding that more market oriented trades have been introduced in ITIs and Polytechnics to make younger generation trained in skills that are required in present market.

Meanwhile, Goyal visited different stalls put up by government departments to showcase their performance besides educating the public about various welfare schemes being offered by them.

Principal Secretary also interacted with public delegations who apprised him of their issues and concerns seeking an early redressal. He interacted with all the Councilors of Budgam Municipal Committee.

Principal Secretary heard them patiently and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for resolving their issues on priority basis.

On the occasion, students of different schools presented Ladi-shah, skits and cultural items highlighting the issues including NashaMukhtabhiyan, garbage disposal and pollution of water bodies.

Deputy Commissioner said “My Town My Pride “ programme aims to strengthen the democracy at grass roots level where the people become part of the decision making process and decide about utilization of funds meant for development of their wards.

President MC Mushtaq Ahmad and ward members of Municipal Committee Budgam also spoke on the occasion.

During the programme, Principal Secretary distributed education kits, wheelchairs, hearing aids and other appliances among differently abled persons and children. He also distributed domicile certificates among the beneficiaries besides giving away certificates, GrahPravesh keys and financial assistance letters to the beneficiaries under different schemes.

Later, Goyal visited District Hospital Budgam and took review of the working of staff and machinery of the institute. He also visited Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam where he inspected Atal tinkering lab of the school. He participated in sports event besides launching a plantation drive organized by the Forest Department in the school.

Principal Secretary also inspected ongoing work on Community hall in Budgam town besides reviewing facilities at New Bus stand, Budgam.

Among others SSP Budgam,TahirSaleem khan, ADC Budgam, Dr Nasir, CEO, CMO, DIO, DSWO, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Budgam, other senior officers, ward members of MC Budgam, Anganwadi Workers and locals participated in the function.
