Udhampur : RohitSlaria, owner of Udhampur based Slaria Spices, has come a long way since he availed benefits of the union government’s  flagship  scheme PMFME (Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme). He misses no opportunity to tell other unemployed youth of Udhampur district to become Atamnirbhar by availing long listed benefits of the   flagship  scheme.

RohitSlaria, a B.Com graduate took a bank loan of Rs 12 lakh under PMFME scheme to start his venture.

The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Udhampur, the District Nodal Agency for Udhampur district, provided due hand holding to RohitSlaria.

The department facilitated installation of state of the art machinery enabling Rohit to run his business successfully and also generating employment for five youth. His two brands “VIMAL” for spices and “SWADLAY” for pickles have become a household name in Udhampur.

Rohit plans to export his products to other parts of the J&K and outside J&K.

The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing sponsored his visit to Indian International Trade Fair at PragatiMaidan New Delhi where his “Tea Masala”, “Kashmiri Masala Tikki” and Amla candies were sold like hot cakes.

Facilities like free space at the stall and free accommodation during his stay at New Delhi were provided by the department.

Area Marketing Officer Udhampur-Reasi informed that the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing is providing complete hand holding to all PM FME beneficiaries and helping them in getting marketing linkages.

Currently a buyer seller meet is being organised by the department at Kolkata where two beneficiaries are sponsored to travel by air to participate in the meet with lodging facilities.

It was informed that the department, in collaboration with the J&K Export Trade Promotion Council and APEDA shall, shortly help Udhampur PMFME beneficiaries to export their products outside India.

RohitSlaria, alongwith few other beneficiaries, are going to participate in five day Punjab Trade Fair at Amritsar starting from 8th of December 2022.
