Mega Jan Abhiyaan function held at Kaloosa, B’pora

Prog aimed to assess issues of public at grassroots level: Dr. Owais

Bandipora: As part of activities under “My Town My Pride” (MTMP), a mega Jan Abhiyaan function was on Thursday conducted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kaloosa, here.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed was chief guest on the occasion.
The programme was attended by President MC Bandipora, BasharatHussain, CEO MC BandiporaWali Mohammad, TehsildarBandipora Sheikh Tariq, Programme Manager DIC BandiporaMehrajWani, Municipal Councilors and officers of various other departments, teachers, students, youth and a large gathering of public.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that as part of the program, various services of different departments are being provided to the people in Municipalities at their doorsteps along with organisation of multifaceted activities.
He further mentioned that the thrust is to ensure that the benefits of different Govt schemes and programmes percolate to the beneficiaries in the urban areas, more effectively.
Highlighting the importance of Shehri Jan Abhiyaan, the DC said that the programme is aimed to assess the issues of the public at grassroots level and redress the same.
Deliberating upon the ill effects of pollution and Single Use Plastic (SUP), Dr. Owais said that people have to act judiciously to stop the use of SUP and prevent its ill effects and urged people to properly use dustbins and take other preventive measures for proper disposal of waste.
He said as responsible citizens, people have to perform their duties and cooperate and coordinate with administration in implementation of various public oriented Government schemes and programmes.
Speaking about drug abuse and measures taken up by District Administration to curb it, the DC said that those involved in drugs are victims and it is our moral responsibility to encourage them for rehabilitation so that they can return to mainstream life.
Earlier, the DC inaugurated a volleyball and cricket match under the banner of Shehri Jan Abhiyan. He also interacted with players and asked them to actively participate in sports to showcase their talent in both academic and sports.
The programme also witnessed plantation drive within the premises of GHSS Kaloosa in which DrOwais participated.
Speaking on the occasion, President MC Bandipora, BasharatHussain urged people to come forward in collective mode to meet the targets of MTMP.
