Govt Polytechnic Jmu organises seminar on “Rights of Women against Sexual Harassment at Workplace”

Jammu: Government Polytechnic Jammu on Thursday organized a one day seminar on “Rights of Women against Sexual Harassment at workplace.”
All female faculty, staff and students of the college attended the event. The guest expert for the seminar was the eminent speaker and a well-known name in the arena of law, Shashi Thakur, Dy. Sp. (Retd.) Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The seminar was inaugurated by the Principal, Er. ArunBangotra.
In his welcome address, Er. ArunBangotra stressed that a fine line should be drawn at the workplace to prevent the occurrence of sexual harassment at the workplace. He added that the Institute has constituted a Committee for the Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Female Employees and Students (ICC) to create a safe and secure environment for females in the campus.
In her lecture, Shashi Thakur explained prevention, prohibition and redress of sexual harassment cases.
The seminar emphasised the need to prevent gender bias and other related issues at workplaces and various do’s and don’ts for prevention of such unwanted actions and behaviours.
During the question-answer session, students shared and enquired the information of various related aspects.
NeenaDullo, Training and Placement Officer and Chairperson ICC proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The event was coordinated by Er. SakshiKapai, Lecturer, Er. VandanaChib and Ar. Manu Rajput, member of ICC and Women Cell Government Polytechnic Jammu.
All the female staff members and more than 150 girl students attended the seminar.
