After taking over the reigns of power in Jammu & Kashmir two years back Lt Govenor Manoj Sinha has changed the tracks of working in Government offices and biggest decision taken by him so for is the working of the secretarial work through electronic movement of files concerning both policy decisions and as well as routine administrative practices and procedures of the government departments at twin secretariats in Srinagar and Jammu. The electronic movement of files between the twin secretariats of Srinagar and Jammu has not only eased the working of the administrative departments at the twin civil secretariats but it has also facilitated the working of the twin secretariats simultaneously from Srinagar and Jammu which significantly has ended the decades old practice of biannual shifting of offices from Srinagar to Jammu and Jammu to Srinagar. This unprecedented change in the working of the Government simultaneously from the twin secretariats of Srinagar and Jammu has now become a new norm of financial austerity as Government used to spend crores of rupees twice in a calendar year on shifting of move offices from Srinagar to Jammu and back from Jammu to Srinagar. Gone are the days when people from Jammu had to travel to Srinagar for the speedy disposal of the matters of their interest during summer months and similarly people of Kashmir had to travel from Srinagar to Jammu amid heavy traffic blockades on Srinagar-Jammu highway for days together for quick disposal of the matters of their interest at Jammu secretariat. The introduction of e-tendering in government department is yet another step towards transparency in the working of the government departments as it has unprecedentedly reduced the scope of favouratism, nepotism and corruption in the allotment of developmental works in the engineering departments across Jammu & Kashmir.
e-governance and e-banking is not just a slogan in Jammu & Kashmir but it has changed the tracks of both the working of Government departments and as well as tracks of business and trading activities in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division. Easing the practices and procedures of working of government for improving the delivery of services and easing the practices of business and trading activities to change the lives of people are undoubtedly the two big benchmarks of e-governance

Introduction of the latest tracks of e-banking has even eased the travel of tourists in Jammu & Kashmir this year.
