2ndCoordination meet between STD, CGST officers held at Jmu

Jammu :  The 2nd Coordination meeting between the officers of State Taxes Department (STD), J&K and Central GST (CGST) officers was jointly held by Commissioner State Taxes J&K, Dr.Rashmi Singh and Commissioner Central Goods and Service Taxes, H.S. Negi Wednesday at Excise and Taxation Complex here on Wednesday.

The meeting was held with an aim of exploring common ground in areas of information exchange and for closer coordination in field activities.

During the meeting, the follow up action of 1st Coordination Meeting by both the departments was also discussed in detail.

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner State Taxes stated that through the collaborative efforts of both State Taxes Department and Central GST Chandigarh Zone, we have established this platform of coordination and Wednesday held the 2nd meeting to take this discussion forward. She added that the positive outcome yielded from this platform will benefit not just tax administering of just Centre and State but also taxpayers.

Commissioner CGST, while speaking in the meeting, said that we look forward for more such meetings and closer coordination with UTGST officers for augmentation of the Government revenue.

During the meeting, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Tax Planning Policy and Advance Ruling) J&K and Joint Commissioner Central Goods and Service Taxes presented the status of sharing specific real time intelligence inputs between the two departments so far. The State Taxes Department informed that through their DDOs awareness campaigns, registrations have seen a jump from approximately 3000 to more than 7000 across the J&K.

The meeting decided that a joint mechanism for clearing of Tran-I and Tran-II cases will be established. It was also decided that methods for augmenting revenue and establishing an ease of doing business mechanism will be established.

Earlier, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Tax Planning Policy and Advance Ruling), AnkitaKar presented brief agenda of the meeting including thrust areas like exchange of information and intelligence for enforcement action, best practices being followed by both the departments, information dissemination for greater compliance to GST Laws and bulk awareness campaigns for taxpayers, industries associations and other stake holders of J&K and preventive action to curb tax evasion.

NamritaDogra, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Adm&Enf), Jammu, ShakeelMaqbool, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Adm&Enf), Kashmir, T.P.S Nagpal, Joint Commissioner, CGST Audit, Commissionerate, Jammu and Dr.SandeepKaur, Deputy Commissioner CGST Commissionerate, Jammu were also present in the meeting.
