My Town My Pride: DC Pulwama pushes for on-spot grievance redressal, services delivery & speedy execution of people-centric projects

Pulwama  :  Following commencing of ‘My Town My Pride -2’ programme in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary on Monday appealed the people of Pulwama town to participate in the government’s public outreach programme aimed at reaching out to the people at their doorsteps to ensure on spot redressal of their issues and grievances.

The DC said “My Town My Pride” is an initiative to strengthen urban local self-governance and to serve the people with responsive, accountable and participatory governance. He said the programme has three main objectives including Public outreach in towns, strengthening grassroots democracy, and service delivery at doorsteps.

He directed all the concerned officers to work in tandem and coordination so that people of the town get benefitted of the initiative of the Government, envisaged to provide better service delivery and governance at the doorsteps of the people living in towns.

He directed all the concerned officers of important departments involved in public service delivery like issuance of domicile certificates, widow/disabled /old age pension, enrolment and up-dation of Aadhar and power supply, issuance of birth/ death certificate, sanction of loans to start-ups/ entrepreneurs by banks and others for setting up a dedicated stalls/Kiosk at the venue of the program.

Meanwhile, stalls were installed within the premises of Town Hall Pulwama where awareness regarding various schemes was dispensed to the general public.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina presided over a meeting regarding My Town My Pride at Town Hall, Tral where all sectoral officers participated in the meeting.

Sports kits were distributed among the school children besides giving away income and domicile certificates to beneficiaries at various MCs.

An awareness camp cum registration drive was also organised at Awantipora Municipal Committee under Jan Abhiyanprogramme of ‘My Town My Pride-2”.

Another camp regarding sowing of garlic and awareness of available Government schemes was established at Agri Zone Tral.
