First batch completes Bamboo craft skill up-gradation training at ABDP Block Sumb

Samba : The First batch of artisans has completed Bamboo craft skill up-gradation training organised at Block Sumb under the Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP)

The skill upgradation and enhancement training program is being organised by District administration Samba and District Handicraft Department for four batches of 20 artisans for 15 days each to upgrade their bamboo craft  skills through North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council, Assam (NECBDC). The training of the first batch began on 14th Nov  and culminated on Monday 28th Nov,22.

In this regard, an awareness camp cum certification distribution ceremony was held at block Sumb with ACD Samba,  SidharthDhiman as the chief guest. He congratulated the pass out batch and distributed certificates and processing tool kits among the tainees and encouraged them to carry forward the work learnt in the training session.

AD Handicrafts and Handloom Samba,   Niharika briefed about this training programme. She said “The training is being conducted as part of ABDP under the aegis of MoU signed by  JK with NECBDC Assam for Bamboo entrepreneurship and bamboo infrastructure development in JK.”

She also briefed that after successful completion of this training programme these artisans are expected to act as a catalyst by imparting and encouraging other artisans of the area. She said they can avail benefits under departmental schemes and explore avenues of self employment.

H.Priyo Kumar Singh, Manager Training, NECBDC Assam was also present. He felicitated the participants, explained the programme schedule and activities taken during this session with an aim to bring about various innovations in this craft and to acquaint the local artisans with latest market trends.
