Budgam : Tasamaidan Dev Forum has welcomed the new order of Deputy Commissioner Budgam on estanlishment and operation of brick kilns in Budgam district.

The Tosamaidan Development Forum in a statement issued on Saturday saud “It is a welcome step from Deputy Commissioner Budgam yed Fakhurddin Hamid for limitation of Environment pollution to monitor the operation and establishment of illegal Brick kilns in District Budgam”, adding that “ We are witnessing that the mining, constructions, brick kilns, encroachment over natural resources are developing fast in the District”.

Stating that in the entire Jammu & Kashmir all brick kiln units are using the old traditional bull trench technology in present, the Tosamaidan Development Forum in it’s statement appealed Deputy Commissioner Budgam for a technological change so that emissions would inherently be less, Stating therein further that MoEF&CC, in its current notification, has mandated allowing brick kilns only with zig-zag technology or vertical shaft or use of piped natural gas (PNG) as fuel in the brick-making process.

The Statement further reads “It is a fact that all the natural disaster occurs due to the development minus human and nature’s interest”, adding that “ It is matter of surprising how 300 units of brick kilns have been permitted in the District when we know that this industry is not in the favour of nature of the valley and what our valley needs in real are eco-friendly industries and not the anti – nature, anti – human, disastrous industries”.

Stating that it is open to the Sub Divisional Magistrates and all Tehsildars of District  Budgam to take any action against the brick kilns, if it is found that the same has been operated without any licence/clearance in the manner known to law, the Tosamaidan Devlopment Forum further said “ This order would not preclude the authorities in exercising their powers in accordance with law, adding that “ It is also made clear that the owners of the brick kilns can run the show, if they possess a valid licence and other documents to do so” .
