Pledge Taking Ceremonies mark celebration of ‘Constitution Day’ across Kashmir

Srinagar : The ‘Constitution Day’ also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas’ was Saturday celebrated across Kashmir division with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. Constitution Day is celebrated every year on November 26 to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from January 26, 1950. At District headquarters, the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) presided over the functions held at DC Office Complexes. They highlighted the significance of observance of Constitution Day and to acquaint the participants regarding its prominent values. They also read the preamble of the constitution and administered a pledge to uphold the fundamental duties to District Officers and officials present. The District heads urged all officers/officials to maintain a sense of brotherhood, achieve the idea of social, economical and political justice, liberty of thought and expression, equality among all and element of fraternity as enshrined in the preamble of our Constitution.

At Baramulla, As part of Constitution Day celebrations, a function was held within the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Baramulla Saturday in which all the officers and officials showed their enthusiastic participation. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the function, and read out the Preamble of the constitution. All district officers and officials present on the occasion also read the preamble of the constitution and took a pledge that they will promote Justice, liberty, fraternity and equality within themselves and encourage other persons to take this pledge. Similar functions were also held at all Government offices across the district where all the heads of departments led pledge ceremonies.

At Budgam, the Constitution Day was celebrated across the District. On the occasion, pledge taking ceremonies were held at all Government offices, schools and colleges in the district. Deputy Commissioner Budgam, S F Hamid presided over a pledge taking ceremony at Conference Hall, where ADC Budgam Dr Nasir Ahmad read out the Preamble in presence of scores of employees. Similarly, the District and Sectoral Officers presided over preamble reading ceremonies at their respective offices across Budgam.

At Ganderbal, the District Administration Ganderbal Saturday celebrated Constitution Day with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir reading out the preamble of the constitution and administering oath to all the participants to uphold the fundamental duties at Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, here. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, CPO, Irfan Giri and other senior officers besides PRI members were present on the occasion. Similar functions were held in Sub Division Kangan and in all Government offices and all Education Institutions across the district.

At Kulgam, To mark the ‘Constitution Day’ celebrations, ‘preamble reading ceremony’ was held at mini-secretariat Kulgam. On the occasion, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather read out the preamble and all the participants took pledge to uphold the fundamental duties. Similar functions were held in Sub Division D.H.Pora and in all Government offices and all Government Degree Colleges and Schools and other offices and institutions across the district.

At Shopian, On the eve of Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ being observed every year on November 26, Pledge taking ceremonies were held across Shopian district. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Yar Ali Khan read out the preamble of the Constitution at the district level function.      Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya and all senior Officers and Officials participated in the preamble reading function. The Constitution Day was also observed across all the government offices, in subdivision Zainapora and other tehsil, block and village level of the district.

At Kupwara, On the eve of Constitution Day, District Administration Kupwara Saturday organized an impressive function within the premises of D. C Office Kupwara in which all officers and officials read the Preamble of the Constitution of India. The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat administered the oath of the Preamble of the Constitution of the country to all participants. JD Planning, Abdul Majid and other officers and officials were present. Constitution Day was also celebrated in all Educational Institutions, Government offices of District Kupwara  including its sub divisions in which officers,  officials and students unanimously read the Preamble and  take pledge to rededicate ourselves for the service of the nation.

At Bandipora, To mark the ‘Constitution Day’ celebrations, ‘preamble reading ceremony’ was held at the mini-secretariat Bandipora. District Nodal Officer Coordination, Mohd Ashraf Hakak along with officers from District Administration participated in the Constitution Day celebration.  Speaking on the occasion the Nodal Officer Coordination said November 26 is observed as Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.   Similar functions to celebrate Constitution Day were held at Subdivisions Sumbal and Gurez.
