Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has booked four drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it arrested four drug peddlers who were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar (Suriya) S/O Mohd Ashraf Dar R/O Namlabal Pampore, Umar Noor (Umgoola) S/O Noor Mohd Bhat, Umar Reyaz Ganaie (Jan Watab) S/O Reyaz Ahmad Ganaie and Sameer Ahmad Bhat (Sameer Kachroo) S/O Ali Mohd Bhat, all residents of Wuyan Pampore.
Stating that the above drug peddlers involved in NDPS cases are registered in various Police Stations in the district, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the accused arrested by the police were promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth. Police in it’s statement also said that moreover despited involvement in many FIRs the above named drug peddlers did not
mend their activities and were again promoting the drug abuse trade by
supplying drugs to local youth.” .
Stating that the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, the drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act and have been lodged in Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement said that it’s consistent actions against drug peddlers are part of efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
