Srinagar : Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovery of huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that as Police post General Bus Stand Anantnag received specific inputs about one youth namely Adil Ahmad Shah S/O Bashir Ahmad Shah R/O Doni Check Anzoola having indulged in drug peddling and hoarding a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house,a police party along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific location and during searches recovered 5.5 Kgs of Bung Bossa from the said house and the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Stating that meanwhile, a Police Party from Police Post DK Pora at a checkpoint intercepted a vehicle (Innova) bearing registration No. DL4CNE-0285 driven by Irshad Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Rasool Ganie R/o Shelipora Achabal and during searches in the vehicle recovered 250 grams of charas from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the above named drug peddler was later on arrested and the vehicle was also seized on spot. Police in it’s statement also said that a cases under relevant sections of law were registered following which investigations were initiated to ascertain the facts on ground.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. The police in it’s statement also assured the people that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to show that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
