4 drug peddlers arrested in B’gam &Pulwama, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 4 drug peddlers in Budgam and Pulwama districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Budgam, at a checkpoint established at Malpora Crossing, a Police Party of Police Station Khag intercepted two persons carrying nylon bags on their shoulders.

Stating that after noticing police party, both the accused tried to flee from the spot however but alert police party apprehended them tactfully and identified them as Firdous Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Ahmad Mir R/o Nusso Khag and Mohd Shafi Wani S/o Abdul Majeed Wani R/o Hanji Lawipora Beerwah, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that during searches 13 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in the said nylon bags were recovered from their possession .

Police also said that in a similar incident in Pulwama distric t a Police Party of Police Station Litter at a checkpoint established at Achan intercepted two suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. Stating that the said two accused persons have been identified as Mohd Altaf Dar S/o Gh Mohd Dar & Tariq Ahmad Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar, both residents of Achan Pulwama , Police in it’s above referred statement further said that  during searches one Kg of Charas Powder was recovered from their possession, Stating therein further that both the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to respective Police Stations where they remain in custody.

Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
