Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has busted burglary gang by arresting two accused persons involved in Baramulla district and also recovered stolen property worth lacs.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that in the recent past incidents of burglary & vehicle theft were reported within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kunzer following which Case FIR numbers 40/2022, 72/2022, 76/2022, 87/2022, 89/2022 & 102/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered & investigation was initiated.
Stating that during investigation of these cases, strenuous efforts of the investigating officers who used modern techniques & human resources, names of some suspects surfaced who were identified as Abdul Majeed Lone son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone R/O Checkthan Chanpora Tangmarg, a well-known burglar of Tangmarg area, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that to evade his arrest the said accused person was hiding at different locations.
Police also said that inputs about movement of the said suspected person in village Gulabdaji area was received on 6th Novemeber by Police Station Kunzer following which the accused person was arrested by police party of Police Station Kunzer from the area. “During questioning, the accused person confessed that he along with another person identified as Basharat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of GundHassiBhat Srinagar are involved in these burglary & theft incidents, who was subsequently arrested”, said Police further in the above quoted statement.
“duo during questioning also disclosed that in order to hide their criminal activities and to dispose-off the stolen property without being exposed, they have opened a workshop at Diver Crossing in Mirgund area of Pattan”, reads further the above referred Police Statement, adding that “at the workshop they dis-assemble the stolen vehicles into parts and break the engines and cut pieces of vehicles by using cutters and then sell these pieces as scrap and use other parts in the vehicles which come to them for repair”.
Stating that the above named accused were also selling stolen M-Oil and spare parts to customers from the said workshop, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the investigating team also recovered stolen property worth lacs of rupees including spare parts, parts of stolen vehicles, copper utensils, M-Oil etc on their disclosure and also said that investigation is in progress and further arrests are expected.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people appreciated the efforts made by the Police for solving the cases and resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.
