Gulmarg receives light snowfall in Kashmir

Srinagar: Ski resort of Gulmarg received a fresh light snowfall while some parts of Kashmir valley were lashed by rains on Sunday even as Meteorological Department forecast of mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir received a mild snowfall with the depth of 1cm overnight, the MeT office said on Sunday.
The valley of meadow also recorded the minimum temperature as low of minus 1.8 degree Celsius which was minus 0.3 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season.
Upper reaches of Kashmir valley including Peer Panjal range of mountains, Gurez, Bandipora, Razdan Top, Sadhna Top Machil in Kupwara, Sonamarg, Peer Ki Gali on Mughal road and other parts received light to moderate snowfall resulted in closure of many far flung roads connected with the valley on Saturday.
The Tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 2.3 degree Celsius overnight which was 4.2 degree Celsius above normal during this time of the year. The resort also received 0.4mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.
The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara recorded a low of 3.3 degree Celsius on Sunday against the minus 0.2 degree Celsius which was 3.5 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season. It also received 3.3mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.
Cold conditions prevailed in Srinagar and its adjoining areas on Sunday with overcast sky. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.2 degree Celsius which was 2.6 degree Celsius above normal during this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a low of 4.6 degree Celsius against 0.8 degree Celsius and Kukernag 4.2 degree Celsius against 1.6 degree Celsius recorded a day ago, the MeT office said.
