Budgam : Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former Minister Hakeem PDF workers of Sukhnag areas of Beerwa Constituency  Hakeem while ruing government for what he called “utter failure” in providing adequate power supply to the consumers especially during the harsh months of winter ,said that not only on power supply front ,government has miserably failed to provide other basic services also to the people . He said non – availability of ration to the common Muhammad Yaseen has urged J&K Government to ensure adequate power supply to the consumers , Stating therein that 8/1/2  hours power cut daily during the chilly winter months announced in the recently power curtailment scheduled ,has come as a big shocker for the people of Jammu & Kashmir especially in  winter zones . He said ,  despite increasing power tariff and installing smart meters  , government  has no excuse to deny adequate power supply to the consumers .
Addressing a meeting of people and inability to curb sky rocketing prices of other essential commodities was the hallmark of present dispensation. “Poor fruit growers distressed due to worst ever slump in the market this year  are at the receiving end”, Hakeem said, adding that “not a single word has come from the government till now about any plan to come to  the rescue of the affected families of  fruit growers who have been left without any means of livelihood”.
PDF Chairman poohpood tall claims of government  about making Jammu and Kashmir a state self reliant in power adding therein that exaggerated statements and big advertisements about “so called landmark  achievements of the government” were being circulated to hoodwink public opinion in the country . He said fact is that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were passing through a traumatic phase of socio- economic situation where it has become very difficult for people to feed their families and fulfill daily needs including basic education to the children. He said future of youth seems to be as bleak and dark as never before.
“The dragon of unemployment has raised its ugly head to an alarming level where thousands of hapless educated unemployed youth very easily fall prey to drug abuse and suicidal fits, ً Hakeem observed while asking leadership of all political parties to rise above their individual political affiliations and convictions to bring a better change in the socio political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir . He said need of the hour was assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir as early as possible so that people are able to seek redressal of their grievances through their own elected public representatives . He said in absence of a civilian government, the common people grossly feel alienated and disgusted and the dis-connect between bureaucracy and masses was widening on every passing day .  Hakeem has asked the PDF cadres to intensify their public outreach to help them redress their grievances.
