Srinagar : The police on Friday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party under the supervision of SHO PS Pattan and Incharge PP Palhalan during naka checking at Zangam Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Alto Car) bearing registration number JK05E-6826 with two persons on board. Stating that during searches 300Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Jehangir Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Sabir Lone and Ashaq Hussain Magloo S/o Mohd Ramzan Magloo, both residents of Chennad, Baramulla , Police in it’s statement further said the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
The police in it’s above quoted statement also said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
